The Bible is God’s manual for our lives. Within its pages we find God’s amazing plan and purpose for all of us.

1. God’s Plan for you.

“Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.” Revelation 4:11

If God’s purpose was for each of us to honour and fellowship with Him, but, what happened that caused it to go wrong?

2. Our Problem: Sin

Mankind chose to sin against God.

“For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” Romans 3:23

What does it mean to sin? Sin is breaking God’s law. (1 John 3:4) We sin when we do what God commanded us not to do or when we don’t do what God has told us to do. Sin is choosing our own will and way over God’s.

3. The Result: Death

“For the wages of sin is death” Romans 6:23a “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:” Romans 5:12

When we disobey God (sin), the result is death. The basic meaning of death is separation. Physical death separates a person’s soul from his/her body. So spiritual death separates a person from God who is real life. (Ephesians 2:1) When anyone leaves this physical life separated from God’s spiritual life they go to eternal death which separates a person, both soul and body, from God forever in Hell. (Revelation 20:15)

Throughout history individuals have tried many ways to gain or earn eternal life, but each and every attempt fails for each of us has absolutely no means by which to deal with and eliminate his past, present and future sin. No church, good works, water baptism, holy communion, nor moral living can even begin to successfully meet the need.

“There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death. Proverbs 14:12 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast. Ephesians 2:8,9 ” . . . for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.” Galatians 2:16d

4. God’s Provided Solution: A Sinless Saviour

God knew that unless He (who alone is sinless) stepped in on our behalf there could be no hope whatsoever. Jesus Christ, God’s sinless Son, came to earth to pay the penalty for our sins (past, present and future) by shedding His blood and dying on the cross for us. God loved and cared enough for each and every one of us to make possible the way for us through Jesus. There is no other way. There is no other name except Jesus whereby we must be saved. (Acts 4:12) There is no salvation from sin but God’s provided means.

“But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 “For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God,” 1 Peter 3:18a “. . . the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23b

5. You Decide: Accept or Reject

You have a choice. You can believe and receive Jesus Christ as your only Saviour or you can choose to reject Him and go on to face God in judgement under sins condemnation. To believe in Jesus means repenting of your sins, of living your way, and trusting in your righteousness and to instead trust in Jesus Christ alone as the only way and hope of eternal life and a real relationship with God.

“Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out. Acts 3:19a “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10:9,10 “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:13

It’s not enough to have a head knowledge or persuasion in Jesus (James 2:19) you must repent and receive Christ as your own personal Saviour.

“But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name.” John 1:12 “He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.” 1 John 5:12

A simple prayer might be: Dear God, I know and admit that I am a sinner and I need a Saviour. I believe in Jesus Christ your Son, and that He shed His blood and died on the cross for my sin. I turn from my way and choose you and your way. I trust in Jesus, and in Jesus alone, and receive Him as my personal Saviour. I believe the promise of Your Word and I ask you to save me in Jesus name. Amen!

6. Live For God

Once you have believed, repented and received Jesus Christ personally, God’s plan is for you to have a relationship with Him and to live for Him. You do that by telling others of your decision to accept Him. A great place to start would be right in one of our church services here at Heritage Baptist Church. Each of us here has done exactly the same thing and we will rejoice with you in this the most important decision in your whole life. Then, follow the Lord in believers baptism and join with a good Bible believing, Baptist church where you can learn and grow with others just like you who love God and want to live for Him. (Acts 2:41-47)

If you have received Christ as your own personal Saviour please let us know. We will rejoice with you and would like to be able to send you some helps for your new life in Him.
